Following the announcement of results for Turkey’s High School Entrance Exam (LGS), students with top scores are expected to prioritise public high schools that implement international curricula and diploma programmes. While private schools have traditionally offered such programmes, an increasing number of prestigious public high schools are now providing globally recognised academic pathways, drawing significant interest from high-achieving students.

Rising Demand for Public Schools with International Standards
As Turkey’s educational landscape evolves, public high schools are increasingly incorporating internationally accredited curricula to deliver education on par with global standards. With the release of central exam results, these institutions have once again come into focus.
Volkan Cerrahoğlu, General Manager of WCEP Turkey (Worldwide Cultural Exchange Program), which collaborates with public schools to implement the Advanced Placement (AP) Program, remarked:
“With the announcement of LGS results, we are seeing a clear trend—high-performing students are increasingly drawn to public high schools offering international academic programs.”
Six Leading Public High Schools in High Demand
Mr. Cerrahoğlu emphasised that international education standards have become a primary consideration for students and parents when selecting schools:
“Equal access to international education should be a right for every student who achieves excellence in national exams. The growing interest in public schools such as İzmir Atatürk High School, Istanbul Kabataş Boys’ High School, Istanbul Validebağ Science High School, Adana Anatolian High School, Antalya High School, and Ankara Mehmet Emin Resulzade Anatolian High School—where we have integrated the AP curriculum—illustrates that the quality gap between public and private schools is narrowing. It is a significant step toward realising our vision of educational equity.”
What is the Advanced Placement (AP) Program?
The AP (Advanced Placement) Program is a rigorous academic curriculum developed in the United States and now implemented in over 60 countries worldwide. It allows high school students to take university-level courses and exams, earning them credits and exemptions at international universities.
Beyond academic enrichment, AP gives students a competitive edge in university admissions abroad and fosters strong academic discipline, critical thinking, and independent study habits—all key traits for success in higher education and global citizenship.
